This area covers 4,830 hectares of Mandakh soum of Dornogobi aimag. It was placed under protection by Parliament Resolution No. 43 of 1996. Suikhent is a rare natural spectacle with petrified trees, which do not often occur in Mongolia. Suihent Petrified Forest was formed millions of years ago during the Jurassic Period of the Mesozoic Era. The fossilized forest, which occupies an area 500 meters in length and 80 meters wide, lies 60 kilometers past Ergeliin Zoo Natural Reserve. Fallen trunks of numerous petrified trees sometimes reach 20 meters in length. Their diameters range from 50 centimeters to 1.5 meters. By traveling 40 kilometers further, one smaller petrified forest is found at Tsagaan Tsav, where one will encounter large herds of black-tailed gazelle.


Suikhent Petrified Forest Monument: Suikent Petrified Forest formed hundreds of millions of years ago in the Jurassic Period of the Mesozoic Era. The fossil forest is located 60 kilometers northwest of Ergeliin zoo Natural Reserve and 12 kilometers west of Ulgii khiid. The Petrified Forest of Suikhent is distributed over an area 500 meters long and 800 meters wide it consists of the fallen trunks of many large trees, with logs up to 20 meters long and from 50 centimeters to 1.5 meters in diameter. The Petrified Forest of Suikhent gained state protection as a Natural and Historical Monument in 1996. Another Petrified Forest can be seen in Tsagaantsdav , 40 kilometers north of the Suikhent Petrified Forest. 

Suihent forest fossil is formed at period of Jurassic Period of the Mesozoic Era before hundreds of all ages, have 500 meters long about, 80 meters wide, distributing inside the area in 60 square kilometer. The truncal fossil of a large number of purler has 20 meters long, the diameter arrives from 50 centimeters 1. 5 meters differ. Suihent forest is apart from Saiyinshanda to press down 220 kilometers, drive 6- - 7 hours.
