Detailed Itinerary

Day1. Khamar Monastery - world energy center

We will pick you up from Zamyn-Uud border town and drive to Khamar Monastery (220 km). The monastery was established by educator, poet and noble monk Danzanravjaa in 1820. He chose the site of the monastery believing the surrounding area radiated with a spiritual energy fostered by the Gobi desert. But the monastery was completely destroyed by communist purges in 1937. Rebuilding efforts still continued from 1992 and got large success. Current series of monasteries was built in recent years. Mongolians believe that the site is energy center and often visit there for taking energy from the ground. There, we will see 108 Caves, real dinosaur skeleton on the ground and petrified threes of Jurassic Period respectively. Also, we will hike around and enjoy small sand dunes. Before we head to the tourist ger camp, we will drive to Khusliin Khar Mountain. Climb up there and see panoramic view. Overnight there.

Day2. Ikh Nart National Park - mountain sheep

After breakfast time, we will drive to Ikh Nart National Park (200 km). It covers an area of about 66,000 hectares of granite rocky hills and semi-desert steppe environments and harbors large populations of argali sheep. Mongolian meaning of Ikh Nart is great sun and established in 1996 as national park. Also, it is home to other wild animals such as ibex (mountain goats), wild ass, black vultures and various species of birds. After lunch time, we will hike around the 2 springs, Khanzan Mountain and Burgasan Am, of the national park for looking argali sheep. Overnight in the tent.

Day3. Tsonjin Boldog - Chinggis Khan's statue & Gorkhi-Terelj National Park - horse riding

After breakfast time, we will drive to Tsonjin Boldog Resort (250 km). 40 m high Genghis Khan’s Horse Statue is believed to be highest equestrian statue in the World. There’s an elevator to observation desk on the top of the horse head. Also, there is 2 museums,  Military Armaments of Huns and Great Mongolian State.

Then we will drive to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park (40 km). Situated 70 km northeast of Ulaanbaatar, Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is famous for its unique granite rock formations and pristine alpine scenery, and is a popular destination for tourists based in the capital and for Mongolians on weekend trips. It offers great opportunities for hiking, horse-riding, rafting and rock climbing.

Day4. Ulaanbaatar. (90 km).

After breakfat time, we will drive to Ulaanbaatar (60 km). Then you will be transferred to our hostel. Free time.

Day5. Ugii Lake - fishing

After breakfast time, we will drive to Ugii Lake (329 km). This small picturesque lake is called a paradise for fishers and covers area of only 27 km.sq, average depth of the Lake is 6.64m and deepest point is over 15 m. Its shore length is 23 km. In the afternoon, we will do some boating experience and fishing there.

Day6. Uran Extinct Volcano - hiking

fter breakfast time, we will drive to Uran Extinct Volcano (181 km). Uran means "Artistic",  Mongols named it so because its ridge of the crater is one of many examples of circles that arise in nature resembled a nice creature of a craftsman. A circle-shaped ridge about 500 m across that contains a crater lake at about 20 m wide and 1.5 m deep. We will climb up to the top of the crater and walk around. Overnight there.

Day7. Amarbayasgalant Monastery

After breakfast time, we will drive to Amarbayasgalant Monastery (264 km). English meaning of the monastery is Monastery of Tranquil Felicity. It is a large and best preserved in Mongolia. By the order of Kang Xi of Qun built in 1736 for commemorate for Zanabazar who is first bogd of Mongolian Buddhism. The monastery was sacked in 1937 during Stalinist purges. After the restoration, started from 1988, by funding of high ranked Buddhist leaders of Tibet, the monastery complex eventually took its former glory. We will walk there and explore the monastery. Overnight there.

Day8. Drive to Altanbulag.

Today we will drive to Sukhbaatar border town (213 km). After we arrived in the town our trip will finish there.

Customers' FAQ:

Why food was not included in the Budget Arrangement and is it easy to get food there? 
You can buy meals from local ger guesthouses by paying only 2 or 3 usd per meal. There is plenty of food shops on the way when you are touring. You can carry your own food from UB. It is nice you eat our own breakfast and then buy meals for lunch and dinner. Meals will be basic and usually cooked Mongolian traditional or Russian styled foods. Or you can get basic free kitchen belonings from us and cook yourself.

I want to join to another group. Is it possible?
Yes it is possible, if we have a group fitted date and same tour. Check it with us. We understand people want to share cost by joining another tours. But shorter tours (under 8 -10 days) are not often possible for join-in. If there is no tour you can join, you can post your tour in our Join-In Or Build Group section for collecting some travel other travel buddies. Usually longer tours (vacation kind of) tours are available for join and you can see our Group Scheduled Tours.
