This tour do not have domestic flight so it is good way to reach to Lake Khuvsgul via brand new paved road and you will see many things and do many activities.

Detailed Itinerary

Day1. Uran Extinct Volcano  - climb up to the top

pick you up from your accommodation → drive to Uran Extinct Volcano /561 km/ → hike and explore the site  → dinner time → free time → overnight there

Uran means "Artistic",  Mongols named it so because its ridge of the crater is one of many examples of circles that arise in nature resembled a nice creature of a craftsman. A circle-shaped ridge about 500 m across that contains a crater lake at about 20 m wide and 1.5 m deep. 

Day2. Uushig Deer Stones - ancient burial complex

breakfast time - drive to Khuvsgul Lake National Park /408 km/→ see deer stone sites of Huns period → lunch time → cross Mountain Pass Jankhai → dinner time → free time leisure hiking → overnight in there

A complex of 30 deer stones of Uushig Valley and its burial mounts belong to the ancient Huns period and over 3000 years old. The Bronze Age funeral practice, sacrificial ritual and ideology and animal style art, which were spread among ancient nomads, are all together represented through deer stones made by long block of granite. Highly artistic illustrations of deers and other images are symbol of Shamanism. Especially, statues with images of human face draw attentions of many scientists and considered one of the rarest statues.

About midway along border between Mongolia and Russian Siberia, in a gigantic stone bowl nearly 110km long and almost 40km wide, lies 3% of the all the fresh water on earth - Lake Khusgul. The lake region is home to an enormous variety of plants and animals. Since 1990s Lake Khuvsgul and the entire surrounding area have been designated as a national park, and Khuvsgul is today a naturalist's paradise and an idyllic holiday destination. The water in the lake is so clean and clear that one can easily catch sight of ground.

Day3. Khuvsgul Lake National Park - horse trek and visit to reindeer people

breakfast time → horseback riding → lunch time → visit to Tsaatan, reindeer herder, family → dinner time → hiking → overnight in the National Park

Mongols are historically a nomadic people, and thus many of their cultural symbols reflect nomadic life. The horse is probably the most central part of Mongolian culture. Our excellent horseback-riding program is tailored to your experience level from the beginner to the intermediate and advanced. Meet the horses and start horse trek. A half day is all you will need to enjoy the most breathe-taking views that no other horse stable in the lake area can offer you!

Today, you will visit a reindeer herders’ family. They are Tuvan people who moved to the Mongolia from Tuvan Republic around 1920s to the northern most part of Mongolia. Dukha (another name) are one of the last groups of nomadic reindeer herders (about 40 families left). Some reindeer people moved to the lake area for selling hand made souviner to tourists and brought their reindeers.

Day4. Khutag Under Valley

breakfast time → drive to Khutag Under Valley /338 km/ → lunch time → take rest in the valley → dinner time → overnight in the tent

Khutag Under Valley is one of the most beautiful place in the North Mongolia. Thousands of yaks pasturing int the green field and it is possible to try fishing at Selenge River.

Day5. Amarbayasgalant khiid

breakfast time → drive to Amarbayasgalant khiid, monastery /335 km/ → lunch time → visit to Amarbayasgalant khiid, monastery → dinner time → overnight around Amarbayasgalant khiid

Amarbayasgalant Monastery which is a large Buddhist monastery. Its the biggest and the best preserved lama monastery in Mongolia. 'Amarbayasgalant Monastery' is its Mongolian name, meaning Monastery of Tranquil Felicity.

Day6. Ulaanbaatar

breakfast time → drive to Ulaanbaatar /333 km/ → lunch time → transfer you to your accommodation → end

Customers' FAQ:

Why food was not included in the Budget Arrangement and is it easy to get food there? 
You can buy meals from local ger guesthouses by paying only 2 or 3 usd per meal. There is plenty of food shops on the way when you are touring. You can carry your own food from UB. It is nice you eat our own breakfast and then buy meals for lunch and dinner. Meals will be basic and usually cooked Mongolian traditional or Russian styled foods. Or you can get basic free kitchen belonings from us and cook yourself.

I want to join to another group. Is it possible?
Yes it is possible, if we have a group fitted date and same tour. Check it with us. We understand people want to share cost by joining another tours. But shorter tours (under 8 -10 days) are not often possible for join-in. If there is no tour you can join, you can post your tour in our Join-In Or Build Group section for collecting some travel other travel buddies. Usually longer tours (vacation kind of) tours are available for join and you can see our Group Scheduled Tours.

Why domestic flight was not included in the prices? 
Actual price of RT domestic price will depends when we bought the tickets. If we book it early enough, the ticket price will be much lower. If we book the tickets to close to tour starting day, the ticket price will be much higher. That is why, it was not able to add constant ticket prices on the tour price. There is only 2 domestic companies now in Mongolia.

How are the domestic flights usually booked and check the flight timetable?
If you like we can book it for you and you can pay to us. We offer our contract prices for our customers who bought a tour from us. Or you can book the tickets yourself through online. It is up to you. You can check the flight timetable from Aero Mongolia and Hunnu Air companies web pages.
