Mongolia is now open to travelers, although the only border point currently allowing visitors is the main airport in Ulaanbaatar.

Foreigners can enter Mongolia free of restrictions but must present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of travel (from time of 1st point of embarkation). The Mongolian authorities also retain the right to test arrivals – either on an ad hoc/random basis, or by reintroducing mandatory testing for all arrivals. However, both of these have recently been suspended, but could be reintroduced without warning. All passengers should be aware of the possibility of mandatory or selective testing on arrival, and testing charges may apply and may be charged.

Please note that many third-party websites do not have updated current regulations, so best to check directly with us or with Mongolian authorities rather than relying on information from travel advisory websites or foreign governments.

Most airlines have resumed scheduled flights and almost all have full timetables for summer 2022. Embassies have also begun issuing tourist visas again for those nationalities who require them, but please contact your local embassy for up-to-date information.

Citizens of 25 countries are currently exempt from having to apply for a tourist visa, and this list is here – https://www.consul.mn/eng/index.php?moduls=23 Visa on arrival is also available, by pre-arrangement and pre-approval (which can be organised through us), if you are coming from a country which has no Mongolian Embassy or Consular services/visa provision.

Mongolia is also moving towards online visas (evisa.mn) but this is in trial stage and has teething problems so current advice is to continue with the existing method of visa application.
